Welcome Minimize
Penniwells.jpgThrough the commitment of volunteers, Riding for the Disabled enables people with disabilities to ride or carriage drive to benefit their health and wellbeing and to achieve their goals.

Greater London Region is the area within the boundary of the M25 and is divided into four 'counties' each with its own Chairman and Instructor : Central, North, South West and South East.  Many of our groups have very specific difficulties to overcome.  One, for instance, lies under the flight path for Heathrow Airport and helpers are tempted to duck while the ponies carry on with the job in hand.  Another lies next to a very busy main road and again ponies are carrying out their work separated from buses and the odd fire-engine by one brick wall.  Three of our groups in Central London have the opportunity to use facilities at Knightsbridge Barracks. All our groups are happy places to be for riders and volunteers.  Every year our riders come together to compete in the Regional Dressage and Horse/Pony and Rider Events and many of these riders qualify to represent their Group and our Region at the National Championships held at Hartpury in Gloucestshire.  A few of our riders have successfully competed for the United Kingdom at past Paralympics and we are hopeful for more in the future.  Every rider of whatever ability, achieves.

RDA and Learning Minimize
RDAphoto0004.JPGOfsted recognises the added value RDA activities bring to improving communication, numeracy, literacy, social skills and confidence.  Our Region acknowledges and encourages individual achievement at every level and is working with ASDAN to deliver the Transition Challenge programme to young people with special needs - a programme that recognises and rewards indiviudal achievement.  In May 2006 a rider representative and his Education Co-ordinator attended a presentation to receive his Education Award.  ASDAN is now available for primary school age children.
